Myth: Apprenticeships are only for young people straight out of high school.
Fact: Apprenticeships are open to individuals of all ages. Many people choose apprenticeships as a career change or enhance their current career goals. It is never too late to start an apprenticeship. In 2022/2023, we saw 77,700 people start an apprenticeship under the age of 19, 98,800 people start an apprenticeship between the ages of 19-14 and a huge 160,600 people start an apprenticeship over the age of 25.
Myth: Apprenticeships are only for entry-level positions.
Fact: Apprenticeships are designed for all skill levels, including professionals seeking to upskill or transition to a new field. In fact, did you know can study for a master's degree via an apprenticeship?
Myth: Apprenticeships are not as ‘good’ as degrees or are for people who are less academic.
Fact: Apprenticeships offer an alternative pathway into employment, attracting individuals with ambition and a strong desire to earn while they learn. Some people prefer the hands-on experience that an apprenticeship can provide. Did you know, we can offer degree apprenticeships? We have supported many degree apprenticeships where you will get a qualified degree that is fully funded. We also offer Level 7 apprenticeships which is equivalent to a master's degree.
Myth: Apprenticeships are only available in certain sectors.
Fact: The days when apprenticeships were only available in certain sectors, such as construction, are long gone. Here at Pets, we are proud to offer a range of apprenticeship opportunities. We offer clinical apprenticeships including Level 2 Animal Care and Welfare Apprenticeships where you will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to become a Veterinary Care Assistant and Level 3 Veterinary Nurse Apprenticeships where you will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse.
