With more than 440 small animal practices across the UK, of all shapes and sizes, Vets for Pets has a graduate programme practice to suit you. Whether your aspiration is working in one of our locally owned practices, our 24/7 hospitals or going on to own your own practice, we have the opportunities and support in place to help you make your dreams a reality.

Joining a practice within our UK-wide network, you’ll train on the job with experienced Veterinary Partners and Practice Owners, at a pace that works for you. We’ll find you a role that suits you, in terms of location and culture fit. And, with Vets for Pets and Companion Care practices throughout the UK, there’s a perfect place for everyone!

Our 2-year CPD programme is designed by vets, for vets to give new graduates like you, the best possible start to your practice career. As well as helping you develop your surgical and medical skills, our comprehensive training covers essential non-clinical skills like communication, teamwork, and leadership.

With our support, and emphasis on your wellbeing, you can realise and maintain your full potential in an environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance too.

You’ll be supported from day one by a dedicated Vet GDP Advisor in practice, our support office teams, and online by the1,300+ vets within our online clinical communities.

You’ll also be able to take paid leave to attend the tailored CPD events we hold. The high-quality events we deliver as part of the programme are tailored to guide you through your development. You’ll study subjects such as consulting skills, practical dentistry, practical surgery, radiography, dermatology, cardiology, and will have the opportunity to choose three optional modules in your second year enabling you to follow your own unique interests.

As you build your confidence in caring for pets and their owners, you’ll grow your own client base and see continuity of cases with the support of your wider team. You will have a phased approach to sole charge and better still, the job is yours, from joining the programme to your career beyond – there is no need to relocate at the end of your programme.

As standard we offer all the benefits you’d expect from a major employer (pension, healthcare, paid memberships, life insurance, competitive salary etc.) plus a few more!

• 2-year programme, no financial/contractual tie-ins
• Starting salary of at least £36,500 per annum, with reviews after each year on Programme
• Access to select external CPD libraries for the duration of your programme
• Professional memberships paid – practice dependent
• Exclusive lifestyle and shopping discounts including up to 30% off at Pets at Home plus Pet Plan insurance discount, cycle to work scheme and more
• Approximately 10 paid CPD days (clinical & non-clinical) per year

• Access to our Aspire Programme - a unique, online, self-study programme designed to cement those essential day-one skills.
• Fully funded London Vet Show tickets after programme completion
• Access to our clinical academy for further development after programme completion
• Relocation and immigration support for overseas candidates - relocation packages from within or outside the UK, including visa sponsorship if wanted (we’re an A+ rated sponsor) – practice dependent
