A. Our partnership model is available to qualified RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeons, Vet Nurses and experienced Practice Managers.

Q. I don’t have any commercial or financial experience; can I still be a practice owner?

A. The best thing about our model is that it’s designed to support entrepreneurial veterinary professionals who want to build a successful practice. Our partnership model includes support from more than 12 support functions from finance to recruitment to get your business set up, established and grow, when the time is right.

Q. How long does the process take to become a practice owner and what’s involved?

A. We appreciate that becoming a practice owner is big decision and we will never rush you through the process. The length of time the process takes will depend on a number of factors including which particular practice you’re interested in.

Q. What investment is required to become a practice owner?

A. A minimum of £20k initial investment per practice is required. The remaining finance to purchase your practice is funded through a loan from one of our partnered banks, which we arrange and act as a second guarantor for.

Q. Can I buy an existing or brand-new practice?

A. Both existing practices and brand-new practice openings are available across the network, each offering their own unique benefits. Our team will work with you to find the right practice to meet your needs.

Q. What if I can’t my ideal location?

A. If you can't see an opportunity in your ideal location, please contact the Partnerships team to discuss your requirements who will be able to advise on both current and upcoming ownership opportunities in your area.

Q. What is a Discovery Day?

A. Our Discovery Days will provide you with a comprehensive overview of our partnership model as well as the opportunity to meet with several key colleagues to understand how we support you as a practice owner. The Discovery Day is tailored to your ambitions and requirements and provides just one of the many opportunities to ask as many questions as you need to make sure you’re fully informed before deciding your next step.

Q. How are practice owners financially rewarded?

A. Practice owners will draw a competitive salary from day one which is reflective of the role they have in practice as a Vet, RVN or Practice Manager. As practice owner, you have control over what salary you take, and you’ll also receive a comprehensive benefits package. Once loans have been repaid, as practice owner you will earn 100% of your practice profits, paid as dividends which are paid twice annually.

Q. Do I have the freedom to choose what products and supplies I use in practice?

A. Yes. The Vets for Pets partnership model gives you complete clinical and operational autonomy, meaning you can choose what products and supplies you use in your practice. Our Supplier Relations team will work with suppliers to negotiate the best rates on products but will not restrict you to an approved list.

Q. What happens if I want to exit the partnership?

A. When the time comes that you want to exit the practice, you can sell your shares to a new practice owner. The Partnership team will support you to market your practice to find a new buyer and help facilitate the sale.
